I have taught 3/4 for a number of years now, am now responsible for years 2/3/4. Don't be woried abot behaviour management, if you can control YF you can manage anything. Keep plenty of stickers, use positive praise and have high standards. We use a 2 year rolling programme for many subjects, this can stretch Y3's but ensure there is still plenty for your experts can do, even as simple as sitting on chairs whilst others are on the floor.Use classroom help well and blag what you can!

    Small schools are great!

I know this is a fairly old thread but I would really appreciate some help planning maths for a  split year 3/4 class. Only did my NQT year last year but only Year 3 objectives. This year (in a new school)  I have a mixed year 3 and 4 class but I am struggling with the planning to make sure I cover all the objectives from both year groups but at the same time keep the lessons fluid.  My school has Abacus (but the new head doesn't like us using it and wants us to plan directly from the strategy). Thing is it's hard to match in the objectives to Abacus - what is A2 on the strategy isn't A2 in Abacus.  Any help/advice greatly received. Oh, it's a small school too so have now been made Maths Coord too!
