    Dear MFL teachers,

I am researching for a Teachers TV series - looking at how subject teachers can improve the use of ICT in their lessons.

We take a great and highly motivated teacher who wants to learn more about how to incorporate the use of ICT into their lessons to meet a teacher of the same subject at another school who is already regularly using ICT in an innovative way. The first teacher will pick up tips and help with a lesson plan and will return to their school to teach the lesson.

Each of the five programmes will cover one of the aspects listed below - exploring how it can improve teaching and learning

    • Social networking/online communities
    • Video
    • Multimedia (extending PowerPoint)
    • Data handling
    • Mobile technology
    • Games-based learning

Are you a teacher looking for ways to engage pupils by using one of the above methods?… Or do you think you could be an example of best practice for one of the above?

The filming will last for 1-2 days and all 5 programmes will be filmed by the end of this school year – July 2009.

If you are interested in being involved in one of our programmes - please call me on 020 8600 3461 or email me at gemma.gibbs@illumina.co.uk

I look forward to hearing from you,

     Gemma

It's a shame that Scottish teachers are being excluded from this...

That might well be true Graham, it turns out that they want teachers from the public sector only...

Well, that cuts out around 75% of the most active schools in MFL in the country - but then there are people like you, Joe et al. who do a great job.

Sorry, asi, I thought you were in the state sector. Seriously, though, the number of state schools that take MFL seriously is dwindling. My business's database shows a dramatic fall in enquiries about ICT and MFL from schools in the state sector. Apart from the language colleges and grammar schools, there are only a few pockets of activity, it seems. To some extent, however, it depends on how committed the local authority is - and here we can detect patterns of low and high activity - but on the whole it depends on enthusiastic and energetic individual teachers.
