Hi: I need some advice. I have recently been granted a reduction in hours, to 0.8, following maternity leave. I have been informed that I will have to give up my TLR. I was under the impression that because I am remaining in the same post within the staffing structure, the TLR was permanent? Any advice would be greatly appreciate

    Contact your Union for clarification.

TLRs are permanent but can be removed from the staffing structure by the governors, in which case safeguarding for 3 years applies. If you are allowed to work part time your TLR payment would have to be reduced pro rata.

There is no absolute right to work part time post maternity if my understanding is correct, so you may need to negotiate your return further with the assistance of your union, as jubilee suggests.
