Hey red10 Yeah, I'm fine - just feeling like I've never taught Infants in my life ever even though it ws only 2 years ago!!!
Number Zoo is by Heinemann Educational. Can't remember where I got the book but I'll see if I can dig out the original copy in school and get you the publisher and ISBN number. It's a fab resource for introducing numbers to 10. Each number has a story and this story relates to how the number is formed. ie - Penguin One. Goes sliding all day long in the snow, catching fish for his dinner etc but he is having so much fun that he doesn't notcie a long black mark appearing on his tummy. The seals start to laugh at his dirty shirt. To make number one - you wipe the dirty black mark off penguin one's tummy.
There's also suggestions for follow up activites like making a penguin from a tissue box; there's an action hyme and there's a sheet for the kids to practise drawing one thing and forming the number 1 plus a lovely picture fro the wall. It;s like that for every number. I can easy photocopy you the resource if you fancy it?
Hope you had a good weekend. I'm off to do my Env Studies forward plan which I have had in my head for the last 3 weeks but now have to put onto paper!! x

Thanks for the info. If you can get hold of the publisher that would be great! Sounds like a fab resource...may try amazon and see if they have it! Hope all your plans are coming together? I am in the middle of putting all my plans together but it is such hard work after a day in school...not getting very far!!
Thanks again x

Hey red10 Yeah that's it. It's a pity it's out of stock. I can always sent a photocopy of the resource in the meantime until you get a copy of the original if you want - might be too late for the introduction of numbers this year, I'm not sure how far along you are with it but if you want, I'll certainly ensure I post it asap.
Plans are nearly handed in but really disappointed with them. Finding it hard to get my head round all the paperwork and teach full time in a new stage AND have a life! I'm sure next terms plans will be heaps better! Fee x

weefee thanks so much for the kind offer but I am already underway with numbers - I will keep my eyes open for this resource for the future though so thanks for the great tip. Planning is nearly completed but looks like I will have a busy weekend getting it finished. I am like you struggling to have time for a life. I set up my own teaching resource website in the summer but now I am back at school I am having to manage my time much better...it was easier in the summer! The response was much better than we thought ...but I am not complaining!!
Let me know if there is anything you are looking for? Good luck with the plans!
Thanks again red10 X

hey red10 Feedback ok but DHT said I had to work out my %'s better in my timetable! Just cannot seem to work it all in and have time for play which is just so important in Infants don't you think? I had thought that with all this Curriculum for Excellence stuff coming in and 3-18 that they were going to de-clutter the primary curriculum and allow for more child-centered learning but my DHT doesn't appear to be sining from the same hymn book. Mmm... there goes a few hours of my weekend. trying so hard just to work my 35 hour week but come Wednesday I've done that! Hey-ho! I'll get my act together by Christmas maybe!!!
What's your website called? Must have a look and see what you've got. Have a good weekend. fee x

I am also struggling to fit everything into my timetable and wanted to have time for play - Phonics, reading and maths has taken over! I also find it hard when the P1s are not in for a full day yet. Let me know what you think of the website!
Enjoy the weekend x
