    This is what I found,

"Mandatory points entitlement for EEA teachers is set out in STPCD 2007, Section 2, paragraphs 18.1.3 and 18.1.4."**

    Now this is my situation:

    1. One year at a General Polish Secondary School teaching English (with certificate {i.e. M1}),

    2. One year at a Polish Music Primary School teaching English (with certificate {i.e. M2}),

    3. One year at a Polish Sports Secondary School teaching English (with certificate {i.e. M3}),

    4. One year at a British International School teaching Year 3 (with certificate {i.e. M4}),

    5. 4 Months at a Polish International School teaching Year 1, 2, and 3(with certificate),

    6. Months at a Lanugage School teaching English,

    7. 4 Months an an International American School teaching Year 2 (with certificate {i.e. M5}),

    8. 7 Months teaching English at a Polish Private Secondary School(with certificate {i.e. M5}),

    9. 1 Year teaching English at a Post secondary college(with certificate {i.e. M6}),

    10. 1 Month teaching English at a Polish FE College(with certificate {i.e. M6}),

    11. 4 months teaching at a Polish Secondary School(with certificate {i.e. M6}),

    12. 2 Years teaching in the UK on long term supply for a supply agency.

The school asked me what scale point I should be on?

    ******* I SAID M6 ************

    OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

** 18.1.3 Subject to sub-paragraph 3.2 of this paragraph, in the case of a classroom teacher who is a qualified teacher by virtue of regulation 5(b) of, and paragraph 8 of Schedule 2 to, the Education (School Teachers’ Qualifications) (England) Regulations 2003( ), or by virtue of regulation 5(a) of and paragraph 4 of Schedule 2 to, the Education (School Teachers’ Qualifications) (Wales) Regulations 2004( ), the relevant body shall award a point for each year of employment as a person qualified to teach school age children within state sector schools in the European Economic Area and Switzerland (other than in England and Wales).

18.1.4 Subject to sub-paragraph 3.2 of this paragraph, in the case of a classroom teacher other than one to whom sub-paragraph 1.3 applies, the relevant body shall award a point for each year of employment as a person qualified to teach school age children within state sector schools in the European Economic Area and Switzerland (other than in England and Wales).

From what you have written and included from STPCD, I would disagree with your calculations.

The international schools and private schools, I believe, do not count. Neither does the post secondary since the STPCD says “school age”. Agency supply work in the UK doesn’t count either.

I would therefore have said M4. However, if the school is keen to employ you they may be prepared to pay M6. Good luck.

My school tried to put on on M1 but I told them that was incorrect. I checked the national legislation and the school policy and both said that a teacher who worked as a qualified teacher in an EU country must have their experience recognised. So, 5 years as a qualified teacher in an EU country means being put on M6, no excuses! This is mandatory. Please note that they will misguide you and even LA will tell you pocky pies! There is a difference between an overseas trained teacher and EEA trained teacher. The EEA has the same rights as a UK trained one. Remember, no pocky pies, no excuses! Mandatory means they they have no choice. Simple!
