    If there is, it's the most popular phobia of them all. Most of us have *suffered* to some degree!

    Whatever next?  A money phobia?

    Yes, not read the link in the OP, but it's a recognised form of social phobia.

    It's an emotionally and physically crippling illness which takes lot of  time and expertise to treat (if it is diagnosed properly - often is not) and is never really cured (social/life/the world/phobia)

    We've had a couple of pupils with severe Ed Psych problems diagnosed with this, not sure why it is a problem that is only just coming to light though. I certainly don't remember it being a problem when I was at school. My sister was horribly bullied at school, and at times would have quite severe reactions at the prospect of school (sometimes physical reactions)...but she always went, as otherwise it was truancy and that was something you just didn't do.
