Hello everyone and Happy New Year. I hope it will be a baby boom for us all.

I wanted to start a thread specifically for those of us about to, or already embarking on the fertility treatment journey. Whether IUI, IVF or ICSI etc.

A little about me. I'm 29 and hubby is 32. We have been married for 6 1/2 years. Trying since we got married. No pregnancies. A year ago they discovered I had endometriosis. I had a laparoscopy and dye test and all endo was removed. Told that there should be no problems. Still no pregnancy. So begged to be referred to specialist. Which they have done now.

They gave me clomid to take for three months. No joy.

We had our first few meetings and decided that we would go for IUI (turkey baster theory), then IVF.

On waiting list for NHS IVF for October 2010. And we have decided to self fund IVF first, should be April/May.

But before that, we will start IUI in Jan.

So here we are. Injections (hormone drugs) have arrived at home and first scan on Monday.

I just thought others may want to read my story for info and others may want to share their experiences. I hope we can offer each other advice and support as we do on ttc thread.

Is anyone else going through this at the same time as me?

Has anyone braved the treatment and got their own little miracle?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    EBC x

Hi EBC, I told you I would join Big Smile

We have been married since August 2008 and started TTC Nov/Dec 2008. I'm 35 (and feeling it) and my hubby is 37. Nothing appears to be the matter with me that they've seen but my OH has got poor swimmers and sometimes a poor number too.

I have been taking Clomid for the last 3 months with no joy as not really meant for women who have no problems but worth a try.

Fertility treatment starting about April hopefully starting with 3 attempts of IUI? and then 3 attempts at IVF and ICSI.

I will be grateful for all the info you give.

    Good luck Monday xx

    Hi Ladies,

I am 37, nearly 38 .... OH 39; been trying really for 2 years, officially 18months. We are just being refered to Fertility treatment. No known problems with me so far (though oestrogen was slightly low) but OH has sperm shape issues.

We are now waiting (hopefully not too long) and then will have loads of tests ... I'm thinking it will end in ICSI (but no real evidence for this, just hunch)

Fingers crossed that this is our year.

    NAS x

Been trying for nearly 3 years - unexplained infertility. Just about to ask to be referred back to clinic with a view to beginning treatment.

Juju, I had counselling when I was signed off work with stress - it was mainly about my difficulties with work but obviously I discussed my infertility as well. I found it very helpful - talk to your GP as you may be able to have counselling on the NHS.

    Good luck to everyone!

They have offered counselling to me, but the hosp is far away and its bad enough getting there for treatments.

    Welcome everyone x

Urgh!  was too upset to type yesterday!!

Built myself up, ready for the baseline scan, it was an internal...then she found a cyst on my left ovary. Not too big but there nonetheless. Now they won't proceed with the IUI because the hormone drugs will excasberate the cyst!!!

She said, ever so lighty, oh well, don't worry it should disappear on its own, or will have to remove it by laparoscopy.

    Not again!!!

Anyway, she said to go back on CD1/2 when I next come on.

I spent hors trying to find the positive in this (new year resoulution) and finally said to hubby, Well at least we get to have a month of fun, before more stress.

    How are you??

Hi, sorry it didn't go according to plan. Do you think the cyst was linked to you taking Clomid? I think I read that was a possible side effect.

I'm fine, back to work today so have mind on other things.Still waiting to OV this month I think. x
