I have just had an inteview including the HT, an AHT, a HoD and the Chair of Governors.  There was apparently a "line manager" somewhere in all of this in addition.  And 2 students, who appeared to be in the Y9 bracket.  Which meant some things, as admitted by the CoG, couldn't be discussed.

All I want to do is teach.  Has someone gone a bit mental? Does this mean that every Council housing appointment has to be okayed by 2 homeless people.  Does the next PM get 2 previous one's on the panel.  Does the next Minister vaguely involved in education have to be okayed by 2 teachers (with a Masters of T&L under the hood, of course).

Does anybody know what APP is for and what it means?  And seen any evidence?

Well, no job for me.  Which is probably just as well, as far as government instructed ed goes, I don't have the first idea what everyone is doing, aside from wasting magnificent amounts of time and energy on OFSTED.

So glad I spent a fortune of time in university to.....   end up on the dole.  Time to breed, I guess.

Raise stress levels?  The HoD told me she thought anyone who had discovered edcucation as anything other than over the age of 21 was unworthy.  The Y9s' scribbled notes but said nothing.  The HT looked like she was locked in a time capsule she didn't particularly enjoy.

The place was a nut house.  My take on it was that the HT knew this but was not in a position to do anything about it.  She said as much as well as the HoG in terms of recent meetings with Ed Balls' lackies.

During the lesson part of the interview there were 3 observers talking more loudly than the low level disruptive children, who were evidently taking their stance from the known teachers.  During the lesson 2 observers told me to change the lesson as it was progressing (there was nothing that bad going on).  Then I was kept hanging around 2 hours for the CoG to turn up.

     I say again: what?

Sounds like you had a lucky escape - imagine if you had got the job and had to work there every day! There are better schools out there - keep trying and good luck!

Very true Becky.  Mutual dislike was not going to make for a happy relationship.  Cheers.

I guess.  But they all seem to put up with it.  I'm out of here - told the GTC to get lost, perhaps I'll post that letter on the TES, resigned my membership of the NUT.  Got rid of the ASE. No longer suscribe to TES - it's a completely depressing read in any case.  I have not the slightest idea what I'll do for a living instead, but it ain't going to be as a teacher in a state school. Good luck to the rest of you.  You're mad.  But thanks for posting back to me.  That's always nice.  The wife is overjoyed (no joke! She really is).

Best of luck and bye bye!

So pop over to the Independent Forum and read the Welcome thread there to see if that would suit you better.
