I am going to be an NQT in Sept (yipee) but all I can think about this holiday is the new job. This is with a mix of excitement and nerves but its always on my mind.

    How are other NQTs managing?

    Exactly the same............

I thought this was supposed to be a holiday, but it seems my brain can't understand the meaning of the word.

I have about a dozen schemes of work to get my head around - and one to write, thanks to the new English specifications!!!

Every time I think about that first day in the classroom, on my own apart from 30 faces all looking at me expecting something exciting - aaaarrrgghhhh!!!!

i am exactly the same as well! Cant stop working on SOW or thinking about it. Im RE and so i decided to something productive so i went to london to a gurdwara yesterday - it was work related but it was also the reason why i love the job. i reminded  myself why i want to teach and it made me realise i know more than i thought i did. was very benefitial and i feel a bit calmer now.

You're definitely not alone! My head's spinning too. Mainly I'm worried that I won't have enough time to prepare for September; I'm working over the summer and I also have the stress of moving house at the end of August, but I'm pretty sure that everything will work out alright in the end if I organise my time well enough. I'm a bit of a worrier, which doesn't help much!

Good luck to you all Smile

Dear ABC, This is a really exciting time for you! Congrats on joining the field! It's a great place to be. I started teaching 3 years ago and this September will be my fourth year. I just got recently promoted to an Assistant Head teacher. Work hard, make those ideas happen and just enjoy it. It will be tough so make sure you have a good team of people around you supporting you. All the best Naimish Gohil Henry Compton School and creator of Show My Homework (Free online homework calendar) http://www.showmyhomework.co.uk/teachers PS Teachings not really a nine to five job - It will be pretty much on your mind 24/7 one way or another...

I'm exactly the same!! I've come on holiday to Italy (where there's internet, unfortunately!) and cannot stop checking my school email (which, inevitably, never has anything new because all the other teachers are actually relaxing!!) and thinking about my lessons in September!!

I'm already looking forward to Christmas as I know I will have settled by then!

    Good luck for Sept!
