I don't hate being a teacher (before anyone tells me I'm in the wrong job) but I just can't get excited about starting the new term.  I'm worried about loads of stuff - one worry being that I haven't planned properly for tomorrow BECAUSE I'M TOO WORRIED TO CONCENTRATE.  Instead, I'm just festering here and drinking far too much malibu spiralling downwards in a vicious circle of doubt and fear.

    Is it just me?

I know that by next week everything will be fine again - I just can't face the first week back.

Yep- it's the inset day (see other threads for why), then the getting to know all the new faces, seating plans, handing out books, filling in mark book and getting a sore throat from having to talk again for extended periods.  Then there are all the colleagues you'd really rather not have to work with and finding out the the timetable is wrong and another class is in the room you've been allocated.  Still only 7 weeks to half term.Smile

And I don't have to go back ever again. I've served my time. The end of August is now delightful.....

    Oh unbounded joy! Big Smile

I have at least 17 years left - longer if the govt gets the opportunity to *** with our pension.

I don't want to go back !. Usually I feel a little nervous but also quite excitied and full of ideas etc. This year I can't get motivated. Haven't thought of school and have only just emptied my bag from last term !!.

Hope to feel more positive by the end of the week !

Go overseas; somewhere warm and possibly tax free. Or, as is the case in many people's careers, you are at the point of 'no escape'?

Sorry to hear that.  Do try walking as well or any other physical activity that is relaxing such as swimming and yoga.  It does help.  Thinking of you.
