Hi, Currently doing my PGCE Prelim attachment through Liverpool Hope and having a nightmare with the file! The booklet is pretty vague about exactly how they want it to be laid out ( i.e. do they want the observations and academic reading separately or combined in some way through an analysis?) so I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or whether anyone would be willing to shed some light on their own previous experiences?

I complete the course at Hope in 2009 so am assuming the requirements haven't changed much. I had the following sections in my file (include table of contents):

    1. Classroom observations at FS

    2. Classroom observations at KS1 and KS2

    3. Classroom observations at KS3

    4. Analysis of the roles of a teacher

    5. School provision and structures (those where you observed)

    6. Notes from acadamic reading

    7. Overall analysis and reflection (own thoughts based on gut feel and obs - I briefly referred to reading).

Lastly, don't panic! When I was there we did peer reviews so the tutor never even looked at them. I'm a thorough but also a minimalist (yes you can be both!) so my file was a very slim A4 one. The girl with the jam-packed lever arch file was very annoyed that these weren't 'marked'!

    Good luck!

Thanks so much for getting back to me, that's definitely put my mind at ease! I'm usually more of a 'lever arch' girl but it's comforting to know that I don't have to slog my guts out ( just yet!). How did you find the course then? is it really as hard as everyone makes out? I hate to keep asking questions, I'm sure you're sick of all things 'teaching' by now but I'm also wondering.... 1. Did you analyse your classroom observations in your prelim file? And if so... 2. Did you analyse each one individually or group them by key stage and analyse them that way? 3. Did you include academic references in your analyses of class room obs, etc? Apologies for the essay!
