This is probably a crap unworkable game, but I'd like to try... Think of a target word, e.g. "true" If anyone ELSE (not you!) types your current secret target word, you score a point, and then you have to think of amd remember another secret target word Each post consists of two words forming a well known phrase e.g. blue moon Each post must change one of the words and possibly the order of the previous post's two words, to form a well known two word phrase so in reponse to blue moon you could type moon madness or blue lagoon or full moon or true blue etc etc remember as soon as someone (not you!!) types your secret word EXACTLY you score a point. Suppose your word was "true", you say "score on true" as part of your next post. Also mention your running total e.g. score on true, total =6 Then make a normal post BUT... you can only claim a point if your post is on the same page or the previous page!!!! Be honest and don't cheat!! You can change your secret word , but only immediately after posting two words. So it is a good idea to think of obscure phrases, to prevent others scoring easy points... oh well .. maybe it will work!! In the next post I will start off the game...

rephrase: you can only claim if your secret word is mentioned on the same page or the previous page...

Ok I'll give this a go - I think I maybe understand the theory... but the scoring seems a bit hit and miss?  However, here goes:

    Field Day

I agree the scoring may prove to be unworkable... But thanks Wera for playing what is probably a prototype of something yet to come.......  :-)

Perhaps it would be better if players thought of one word, and weren't allowed to change it until it came up. That way players could slyly manoeuvre ...

I will play it like that. I have therefore chosen a new word that is a bit more general.

    Field gun

Have I got this right? You think 'true' so put green field' in the hope that green morphs into blue and  ends up as 'true blue', so you score as 'true' came up?

If I'm thinking 'break' and make your 'green field' into 'field day' then by the 'word associations' principle someone will put 'day break'?

    Am I getting close?

I so from your field gun I'll go to

    gun barrel

Yes, I thik so. But now I am going to change the rules - you are allowed to say your own secret target word - otherwise i think the odds of someone else saying it are too remote. In fact, I suggest ONLY you can score from saying your target word - others saying it doesn;t count! And remember you are stuck with your target word until you say it... so those are the new rules.. hope that's ok... as i say this is experimental really. If it works after a few pages I will restart it with the new rules on the first post.

When the rules are confirmed............which reminds me..........anyone else for Mornington Crescent?

When the rules are confirmed I'll give this a go.

My immediate thought for 'gun culture' was 'culture vulture'

(But what on earth could follow that??)

Anyway, good luck 'n' all that!
