Good idea Lara, and yes it's perfectly ok if people don't want to post. We are a very understanding bunch! I had a "trial day" today (defo paid!). It went ok, and it was indeed a challenging school. Two classes were generally OK but two others were bloody awful. They were almost swinging from the light fittings at one point, and because the classroom had two doors half a dozen of them legged it out of one door when I was trying to cajole some others in through the other one. I tried my best, and it's only for a part time job. Still at £130 a day I wouldn't sniff at it and I'm pretty sure I could cope for two days a week. There were some genuinely really nice kids at that school who deserve a hell of a lot better. Oh, and get this - the teacher left due to illness at the start of September and since then they have been "taught" by a cover supervisor. No practical lessons, only book work, endless carousel of supply teachers on the one day that the CS had to do admin work. No wonder there was no order, none of their work had been marked (some of the kids actually commented "what's the point, it won't get marked"). Well, today it did. Checked answers in class and I made a point of marking and giving feedback on two classes assessed tasks. Another trial day on Tuesday, at a much nicer school and full time. And I got home to find a letter from AQA wanting me to be an examiner in January. Go me!
