Hi everyone, at the moment we have to do PE in the classroom and I have been using Cbeebies Boogie Beebies a lot and would like to do something different.

Does anyone have any good links to dance videos on You Tube suitable for Reception? Or any other ideas of activities I can do to get the children active and have fun?

    Thanks!

Is there really nowhere at all for them to go outside? No playground at all? With little people I do think its much better for them to get out of doors, even in chilly weather (not in pouring rain, of course). Get them to bring in trackie bottoms/ leggings and sweatshirts/hoodies and get them outside!

Do you have apparatus in your school hall that they could use for something a bit different?

You could do some limited coordination and balancing activities.

Bouncing patterns with balls (bounce - catch, Bounce-clap-catch, throw ball up-bounce-catch) get children  to repeat  these. Hoop games (step in hoop-raise it up and over head-place on floor-step in hoop, then repeat and move round the room using the hoop). Sit on floor with partner/group and roll ball in group in given sequence.

Balancing challenges on feet, on tip toes, on one foot, on raised foot, balancing eyes closed for 1 second, 2 seconds etc. Balancing on all fours, face up, face down. Change from one to the other. Balnce on 3 points (2 hands + 1 foot or 2 feet + 1 hand). Change from one to the other.

Walk round the room avoiding other children. High five people as you move round. Same, but low five people as you go round.

using your imagination, think of different variations on the above activities.

Might keep you going for a while. Big Smile
