I have been asked to demonstrate Dramatic Inquiry based on Year Seven Science . What subjects do you cover and what, in particular, might you find a bit 'dry' or difficult to engage learners within? Thanks!!!

Is it the American 'Dramatic enquiry'

"Dramatic inquiry demonstrates how techniques such as role playing, movement, and active listening are used in the classroom to explore complex ideas and problems.

    It is:

    • Dynamic, hands-on, interactive
    •  Hybrid of pretend play, theatrical form, and inquiry-based approaches
    • Can be used to teach literature, science, language arts, or social studies
    •  Teacher has to create safe space
    • Students slip into the minds of the characters
    • Role play goes into just character at time. Dramatic inquiry explores many characters, and how they interact, how themes emerge from the interactions. Students may switch roles.
    • Learning authentically, connecting the text to real life"

or do you mean Scientific Enquiry?

In terms of using performing arts/drama skills in Science, then there are lots of things you can do.  However, when we are all clearer about what type of thing you are looking for then I will impart my vast knowledge on the subject.

Would an example such as students 'playing particles' to represent state changes in solids, liquids and gases be any good?

Oops! Wasn't clear! I am a secialist in dramatic inquiry- using drama as a way of developing a creative, collaborative and inquiry based classroom. What I need however from the science teachers is just a topic that you would cover in year seven science? For example radiation etc. Don't worry about the dramatic inquiry as that's my field however just need a subject so I can demonstrate how it can be used across the curriculum to engage and inspire learners! Thanks a lot!!!!
