This is where Art and Design teachers hang out on TES. The TES Art and Design group is the place to get lesson ideas and inspiration, to share best practice and it’s where you can get your questions answered by your peers.
I've done this today and feel really underconfident, I'm the LEAD IV for our offer, in addition to being the only assessor/person that delivers the course. Amongst my bank of 'Art teacher friends' no-one else teaches the BTEC so I'd really appreciate a colleague to chat with about this stressful process!
BTEC First Dip or BTEC Ext Dip?
maryjanewiseto being the only assessor/person that delivers the course.
Hello Maryjanewise, don't worry!
Studying the practice ones and checking the SSV answers help! Basically when you pass it GREAT and if you don't... so what it..... just means they make a visit to your Centre like in the past!
If you were successful, standards verification will provide a random check of learner work, which will confirm your Accredited Status. You will not automatically be allocated a Standards Verifier this year.
If you were unsuccessful, standards verification could lead to your gaining accredited status. It will also provide the release for certification. A Standards Verifier will have been allocated to you.
If you are aiming to gain Lead IV Accreditation in the second or third accreditation window, then your Standards Verifier will not be allocated until the end of the last live Lead IV accreditation window which applies to your centre. This means that the Standards Verifier will have a much shorter time frame within which to complete the sampling process.
The standards verification Window lasts from January 1st to May 31st and is a postal sampling process in which the Standards Verifier will wish to see assessed learner work from full units.
Standards verification checks that you are assessing to national standards. In many respects, it will be similar to the old National Standards Sampling [NSS].
The Standards Verifier will monitor your assessment and internal verification decisions. It is important that your internal verification process is maintained even though your Lead IV may not have gained Accredited Status at the first attempt. "
hope this helps!
BTEC level 2 First extended certificate - Yes I'm the only one delivering, The group have 7 hours a fortnight. It's just quite tough setting al this up on your own and having no-one to discuss things with!
I am about to do mine online. Ambiguous questions so very unsure of answers.
On practice Paper one I was too lenient and got many answers wrong so I was more strict on Paper two and again got many wrong.
I have 32 years experience teaching A&D and never had any problems with Examiners/Moderators/EVs.
I think I would prefer to have an EV visit anyway.
Hope it went ok.
I know exactly what you mean about having the EV come in, but alas this isn't the case anymore. You have to send off the evidence digitally!
Artyfarty is correct, Susan Young emailed us in early Jan re this:
