I am currently on a PGCE Primary 3-7 course - unfortunately, I won't finish the course until christmas as I was ill on my first placement and so am redoing it now, with my second placement due to take place in autumn. The course is going very well and all of the feedback I have received has been very positive.
I was wondering if there is any point telephoning a school to express my interest in a position advertised for a September start - I understand there are likely to be many applicants per job, so I don't want to waste the school's time. However, the job seems perfect and if there is any chance my situation would be considered it might be worth a phone call.
It might be worth a phone call but, as you say, most schools are receiving large numbers of applications so why would they want to wait? However, it is a case of ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained', so go ahead and try.
