PGCE Citizenship London Met

  • post reply

     Hello,

Please can someone who has done the PGCE Citizenship at London Met give me some advice about what to expect at the interview? Or anyone that has been to the interview

I am really worried about the written task as I have no idea what to expect

Also you have to do a presentation on a newspaper article of your choice is it best to do your presentation with a powerpoint or just stand and talk without having a powerpointConfused you only get 5mins for this

Any advice would really be appreciated preferably before 8th feb

    ThanksSmile

Hi, I did the interview at London met in November 2011 but had to withdraw my application as I changed my mind about wanting to study in London. The first part was the presentation. It was straightforward enough and the interviewer asked a few questions about the presentation after. Then there was the interview. I was only asked 5 questions at most. The most I can remember was 1) Why would I be a good teacher 2) What issues come to mind about teaching in a inner city environment (e.g English not first language) 3) Thinking back to my school observations, how did the teacher attempt to make everyone feel equal. And there was a couple more about my background. Then there was a group exercise. Had to work in a group of 4 to place about ten statements on a tree with the most important one's being at the top and least at the bottom. I think the question was what do you consider most important in teaching, or something like that. Then there was a subject knowledge test. Basically a booklet with GCSE basic questions on in which I had to answer. You only get about 1 hr and half to do this. Finally there was a English and Maths test where you answer questions based on a set piece of material given. Wasn't too challenging. There was only 2 of us at this interview so I was in an out in 3 hours at most but if they interview a lot of people on the same day as you it normally lasts all day. Good Luck!!!

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for this feedback, it is really helping as my interview is in 2 weeks. As a result of this post I am currently revising the whole of the Edexcel Short Course book on Citizenship. I have also downloaded the past exam papers. I was wondering if I am revising the correct info? Will the exam paper ask questions such as 'What is a Trade Union?' and will there be 12 mark questions? I am aware that you may not want to divulge this information but any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
