Are there any views regarding Caerphilly CBC's proposals to open a new satellite welsh medium 11-14 school in Caerphiily in Sept 2012 and use the current site for Cwm Rhymni as a centre of excellence for 14 - 19 welsh medium education.
I teach Primary but I know, from union meetings that secondary colleague in our part of the world would be worried if this puts the 14-19 delivery up against an FE college and if so what the long term implications might be. I think they'd also worry about the career prospects of teachers in the 11-14 school because they would not be teaching GCSE /A-level etc. What will the 11-14 school do - only skills curriculum - no specific subjects? Not good for subject trained secondar teachers. The more I think about it the more it looks like a box of frogs!
I am not sure how it will all work but I do know that the school is very fast reaching full capacity and apparently will not be able to take children in the next few years. My oldest is due to go in 2013 so I hope it is all up and sorted and working by then!
