BTEC Applied Science through the medium of Welsh - resources!!!!

  • post reply
Hi, I am responsible for planning and implementing the BTEC Applied Science level 2 (Edexel)course in my school. I am currently teaching it through the medium of Welsh to my year 10 class, but will also have two classes next year one through Welsh and the other through English. I am having difficulty finding resources in Welsh at the moment and am translating the assignment task sheets we have bought from Pearsons (this takes much too long). Please can anyone help?

I'm afraid they don't exist. We are in the same boat. We have been teaching the (several adapted versions) of BTEC in our school since 2006 and have had to produce everything from scratch. I am happy to share some resources that I may have if you were looking for anything specific?

If its purely a translation exercise then that's an admin job that the school should be able to provide.

Yes you would think so but unfortunately the powers that be do not agree and it is up to me to do the translating! At KS4 we have to produce all Science resources in Welsh and English. Thanks for your response.

Hi thanks for your response. I have found that Harper Collins have translated the first three units into Welsh and you can buy the disk from them. It contains assignments and worksheets in Welsh and English. It also has pdf files of their book translated to Welsh. If you want the English interactive book (same as pdfs) you have to also purchase their English disk. We did have the two at a special reduced rate. Thanks again.
