The Base Tikes are a company of young Birmingham actors aged between 18 and 25, and the look and vibe is a little like One Direction, only with some girls in the band! This creates a strong connection with young people, some of whom are becoming 'fans' already. We believe Shakespeare is the coolest thing ever. At the same time, our casts have been fully trained in handling verse and have created energetic, powerful and truthful productions of an initial set of plays. The company is led by an actor, director and former English, Drama and Media teacher that was Head of GCSE in a Birmingham college, and also worked in a large secondary school. The Base Tikes are all extremely fluent in the content and requirements of curricula in English and Drama. This means that we have an outstanding offering to schools that buy in Shakespeare productions and workshops.

The Tikes will have completed an outdoor tour of Hamlet and The Tempest come September, and will want to share their productions, knowledge and skills with young people in schools. We are a community interest and training company, so our rates are based on the simple model of each of 7 actors earning a modest fee for each day or half-day. It is a small company with a big offering.
