Can teaching heads be put through capability procedures as regular teachers can? If a teaching head has taken no part in planning, assessing preparing reports or providing adequate teaching on their teaching days, what is the procedure?
Capability procedures apply to all ‘teaching' staff in the school including teaching and non-teaching heads. The school should have a policy/procedure for dealing with capability issues. Existing guidance on capability procedures from the Department for Education can be viewed via the attached link - https://www.education.gov.uk/publications/standard/publicationDetail/Page1/DFEE%200125/2000
The DfE has just published new guidance which will take effect from September - http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/leadership/deployingstaff/a00201884/new-arrangements-for-teacher-appraisal-and-capability-to-be-introduced-from-september-2012
