How to apply for a GTP??

  • post reply

    Please help! Im 21 and I have currently achieved a foundation degree in Education and Care, and beginning my BA Hons in September until April. After this, I am wanting to go down the GTP route.

    I currently work at a school since I was 16 and have been hired as a TA. I have spoken with the headteacher and she has allowed me to progress and do the GTP at the school I currently work at.

    How do I apply for a GTP?

    Who do I speak to?

    Do I need to complete any forms?

    Please please please help?

    Kate =)

    Does your headteacher not know how it works? There are lots of different funding bodies and they all appear to do different things. Ask your headteacher who you would be doing it with locally, and make contact with them. There used to be info on the TDA website, too - but I don't know if it's still up. But your headteacher would be the most sensible starting point.

     is the link to find out more about GTP from the official site

    When you look for providers you can search geographically, but some provide distance learning, so you can attend for instance 15 days training in lincolnshire with emdirect over the year, and they'll come and visit you in placement 4 times (I think). They have an e portfolio system so they can see how your evaluations and assesments are doing from afar.

    these are the providers which i found which offer distance learning- so I personally considered these as well as applying to one geographically close to me - I'm in a rural area, so not much choice, and knowing the competition for places its worth applying to as many providers as possible.

    good luck - you sound in a great situation with a supportive school and lots of experience.
