Application advice please!

  • post reply

Dear Theo, I am a GTP student attempting to apply for a couple of jobs. One of the schools is asking for an application form with an accompanying letter no more than two sides. I have read your advice about personal statement or covering letter but I'm not entirely sure what to do in this instance as the application form asks for a personal statement. How do I make both different but relevant? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Golly!

It is actually asking for a letter AND a statement?

Is the statement on the form?  Is there a big box to put it in?

Hi, there is a personal statement box within the actual application form and then on the letter sent out with the application form it states that  'applications forms, including an accompanying letter (no more than two sides of A4) should include names of two professional referees and must be returned by.....'

So I'm not entirely sure what they are asking for!

Then in view of their confused message, I suggest that in the form you put your executive summary, then have a separate application letter.

    Best wishes
