Trip to France

Hello all, I am taking some Year 8 pupils to Normandy next month and am looking for some resources. Does anyone have a town trail or suitable activities for Bayeux or Mont St Michel? Thanks in advance for any help or ideas, Mel

From what I remember when we took a group to Mont St Michel there is a wall which is very tempting for students to sit on with a very long, potentially dangerous drop.  Need to make sure teachers are with kids for town trail unless it's changed.  Having said that the only incident that befell the group was me getting a direct hit from a massive seagull in the days when I had hair.

We go there every year. In Bayeux we have for the last 3 years taken the kids to the war cemetery (nearly opposite the war museum) and we have devised a worksheet but I haven't got it electronically unfortunately and won't have time in next week or so to word process it but will try when I get time. The pupils were a bit dismissive of the idea of the cemetery but they were interested and a bit thoughtful after going. We also order a wreath from British legion (about £18) and make a thing of laying it at the memorial. A bit of a cross-curricular theme there.

You should then definitely go to the Arromanche 360 cinema, it's only about 10 minutes drive from Bayeux and it's breathtaking. Really makes them think. I've been five times and it gets me every single time.

OP I'm still awaiting your email address Smile
