    Please?

I taught Y1 for 3 years. Have they told you what subject you are teaching? What ideas do you have so far?

Errrmmm if you really have no clue at all where to start, then how are you planning to manage in September should you be successful?

Goodness me!  Do you really think being that demanding will be the best way to get help?  People are more than happy to help where someone has got some ideas of their own and need help with pitch, timings, tweaking etc, but I don't think you can expect someone to create a lesson for you.  If you come up with some ideas, we will be happy to give feedback and to help.

Thanks for your reply. This is my first visit to the forum so am not familiar with how things are done. Sorry if I seemed abrupt. I've been asked to teach 1/2 a class of mixed ability Yr1s for 20mins. I thought I would focus on money. Maybe get children to pick ingredients (prepared pictures with cost printed on them to stick into a mixing bowl)  for a cake and calculate the cost of the cake using real coins - record coins on prepared sheet with blank circles and their total. Early finishers could then draw their cake and maybe write a number sentence below - as an extension a work sheet or game on the IWB with a focus on money. Hope this makes sense.

I like the idea of picking ingredients Chewielouie.  I usually try and weave a story to give a purpose as to why I need their help to pick ingredients for your cake.  Just wondering if there is a story you could link to. Just be clear about what your objective is (presumably solving problems involving money).  You coud go in dressed as a chef with your apron and equipment and ask for their help.  My class love a bit of role play like that.

     Good luck.

    Thanks.

Not enough time for a story (20mins) so have produced a letter sent from Balmoral House regarding the Diamond Jubilee. 'We can not make a cake big enough for the whole school so would you help me design and make cup cakes?' This could demonstrate how this lesson could be used as part of a larger topic. I am planning to use real money will this be appropriate for yr1.

Feeling more confident - thanks for your feed back
