Thinking of filling my last summer term yr 3/4 with a kind of creative curriculum looking at a block linked to the jubilee and then also one on olympics. going to use the re topics who is my neighbour and who inspires me but so far not got any further, need to give one if not both a big geog emphasis as have really only covered history this year.
just wondering if any one has
a, spotted anything on the web
b, got any bright ideas
or c would like to plan something collaboratively with me
Exactly the same at my school! We have agreed as a school to plan thematically for the last term including olympics and diamond jubilee.
We have started thinking about British history, both the olympics and history to do with our past monarchs.
PSHE- sports health, discrimination, Paralympics.
Art- Sport photography linked with PE, clay models of sporting events, collage of flags.
We also have class countries at our school and we are going to look at our counties past in the olympics too.
Have you had any other good ideas?
I haven't put this down on paper yet but would be happy to send.

Have fun. I can't wait for this topic!
Am going to put on a mini musical based on the Olympics using 'One dream' by John Griffiths. Have used his stuff before and it's easy to learn, you don't have to be a music specialist. 6 songs written to commemorate the 2012 London Olympics/Paralympics suitable for Primary Schools. Going to get my class to write the script in Literacy. It's got CD backing track plus lyrics & music hard copy with melody line & chords, only £10 (which is inclusive of performing rights fees and p & p). www.micas2008.co.uk

Thank you melted chocolate!!! I love these PPT's and activities....exactly what i was after. I now feel very organised for the Summer term....just need to focus on finishing off planning for this half term now!
I am also in same position - I have decided to do a week on each of the decades since the coronation - cross curricular which will lead to the Olympics in the 2nd half term - I am happy to share ideas if you have any please post .
Hi,
I too am doing the Olympics for the summer term. I bought a 'belair OnDisplay' book - Projects Inspired by the Olympics from Amazon. It has great ideas and it also gives cross-curricular links.
Hope this helps. :)
