I currently work as an LSA in a Primary school, I am also doing an Open University degree and I will have 300 points by June 2013. The school I work in has very generously offered to support me through the GTP after I graduate and I was wondering if I need to have a 360 point degree with Honours or will I be able to do the GTP with a 300 point degree? Many thanks Kelly
Congratulations on gaining the support of your school - the experience you have gained as an LSA will greatly strengthen your application to the GTP programme. Course providers tend to set their own requirements with regard to the degree grade they would prefer you to have received so you will need to discuss this specifically with the GTP providers you would like to apply to.
As the GTP is such a popular programme, it would greatly increase your chances of gaining a place if you were able to top up to a 360 point degree with honours. As well as experience, providers will look for candidates with the best qualifications who have the potential to become excellent teachers.
Good luck with your application.
