cochrane1964Please also feel very free to email me with any other suggestions you may have regarding our ongoing dispute with the UKBA
1. Get a cat.
2. Get fake passports for your family that will show them as citizens of anywhere but Oz or Canada. The UKBA frowns on anyone trying to get into Britain from any Commonwealth nations that helped this ungrateful little country in its darkest hour. Remember that? They don't. They've forgotten all about that. So get your brood to the back of the queue and remember, they'll have to go through it all again in another four years, at which time, to add insult to injury, they'll have to pass that bizarre "Life in the UK " test to prove they are fit and proper persons to live here.
I have to ask - if you are a Scot who has come back here with your family to work, why are your children not travelling on UK passports? Is it not as simple as applying for UK passports for them here?
When I arrived here from Australia eight years ago with my family, my step-daughter was the only family member without a UK passport. Once here, we applied on her behalf for, and were granted, 'right-of-abode' on compassionate grounds. That didn't entitle her to citizenship or a passport but, from memory, she was told she could apply for those after living here continuously for five years. Assuming that your wife is Australian and not necessarily eligible for a UK passport, is that not an avenue that you could explore?

Suggestions for a better 'Life in the UK' test on a postcard here, please:
