I heard something disturbing today that I think might have come through the SNCT.
Apparently CT's money is going to go- and the planned strategy is to withhold any pay rises until our money is the same as the top of the main scale. - or to conserve us until 2016- then put us back on the main scale.
Given how quiet our negotiators are at present- I'd like to think this is not going to be on the agenda.
The other comment was that those of us who are over 55 in 2016 could well be offered early retirement- with the caveat that it will be a better deal than we'd get if we worked on until 67.
If any of this is likely to come to pass (and my source is pretty reliable normally) I for one need to consider my own exit strategy.

Surely this would be a legal matter? We paid for our own CPD, met the conditions, did lots of extra work - which the pupils, departments and school have benefitted from, we cannot be treated like it never happened!
The scottish government has lost all integrity for me.
Does anyone know if any concrete details are imminent about what will replace the CT programme and when it would start?
I was ready to begin the work-based project. If there is no replacement imminent I am thinking I could apply to do a distance learning course somewhere on something linked to school.
I suppose this at least means that there will be pay rises before 2016... or will there?? As someone who has only just received a certificate from GTCS on completion of CT, will 4 years enhanced salary be enough to pay me back for the money I have spent? What about the hours of work involved?
If they take the enhanced pay for chartered teachers away which is clearly being rumoured on this thread, how will anyone take the ’replacement programme’ seriously?
Who's to say they won't just substitute the ‘replacement programme’ with something else in another 8 years or so?
If they want the ‘replacement programme’ to be taken seriously (assuming there is pay awards in it) then they must continue to pay chartered teachers their enhanced salaries - it is as simple as that.
If the rumours on this thread turn out to be true(which would be disturbing as said by original poster and could have legal implications as well), the credibility of the Scottish government/SNCT will be in tatters from the perspective of the class teacher wanting to enhance their classroom skills by starting/continuing/finishing/already obtained a higher degree in teaching.
All I know is that discussions are taking place. SSTA reps are involved in these discussions. SSTA members will be informed as soon as there is anything substantive to report. A meeting between MR and SSTA Gen Sec and President was reported at the recent SSTA Council and MR was reported to have been more re-assuring than not about the future of CTs. If I was a CT I would not count on anything until I saw it in black and white in an SNCT agreement.In my opinion, the most likely scenario is for CTs to be subsumed into the current Promoted post structure and to retain their salaries as a point on the promoted scale. We'll see.
Okay- lets consider the situation back in 2002- a decade ago. as a former Senior teacher I was interviewed by my HT and asked in the light of McCrone what i intended to do. I had three options:
1) accept no more ST duties- but Point 3 on CT scale
2) become a substantive PT at PT 1 (those who did this in my school are now DHTs)
3) begin CT and get to end of Module 8 before a pay rise
I opted for option 3 and finished CT in 2006. I didn't get the extra money until after 2 years.
As- a CT I've supported cfE both in school and in the region; worked with University PGDE programmes etc. Am I to return to where I was in 2002, or where I was in 1989- before I was a ST?
or do I start applying for DHT jobs?
