The Sell Out Deal was suppose to save about £60 million?

  • post reply

"Labour’s figures, secured under Freedom of Information legislation, ........ show savings so far to be relatively modest. Twenty of the 32 authorities detailed projected savings in the current year, and these totalled less than £3.24m."

Cosla drew up changes to supply teacher's terms and conditions to save about £60 million. So the savings for 20 out of 32 councils should be close to £30 millions not £3.24m.???

What is the justification for Mr Russell, COSLA and EIS to defend the sell out deal now?

    Another excellent post SST!

I wish more people with some say could follow this detail....have you copied it to anyone/where else?

    keep on posting please....

PS This sort of posting keeps supply spirits up.........today in my LA one HT pulled my 6 days planned (as I won't work at lower rate) saying 6 days would be paid as short term because with different classes.....if this is the case I have no work coming at all this term

    Yes, good stuff SST!

sos1 ... your HT is out of order I'd say. Tell your union - this is the sort of thing that will eventually win the legal battle!

Does a permanent teacher suffer the halving their wages if they cover a few different classes? It's clear discrimination against part-time employees!

This HT is definitely wrong and you should get your union involve (if it is not EIS). If you have been asked to work for 6 days you should be paid your proper rates, no matter if for different classes or depts as long as it is the same school. Your union should be talking to not only the school but also the LA to make sure they don’t make the same mistake with other short term staff.

After working the last five weeks at one school, covering long-term absence of one class teacher, I was told by Head today that from next week I will be put through at the lower supply rate of pay because teacher has returned, but the school still requires me in a different capacity. Is this legal? I am so confused with it all... :(
