Resources and BBC competition for schools for the Commonwealth Games

  • post reply

The BBC, the British Council and the Commonwealth Secretariat are working together to bring Commonwealth Class to schools across the world. The project is aimed at 7 – 14 year olds and provides online teaching resources and interactive activities for schools to mark the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

We have recently launched a competition for schools to win the chance to work with a TV crew to make a film in their community. We are searching for the best stories from around the Commonwealth which share what it means to be a global citizen and which best reflect the Commonwealth values. For further details and how to enter, please see the link below:

     www.bbc.co.uk/worldclass/24574326

The closing date is 31 January 2014.

The winning films will be shown on our website and they will be used as the basis for an online debate. We hold live online debates for schools around the Commonwealth to share their views on various topics such as education, protecting the environment and gender equality. Our next debate is on Thursday 12th December from 11 am - 1 pm. We'll be discussing the effect of sport on self-esteem and confidence. All you need to take part is an internet connection and an email address. For more information, please see our website:

We hope you find this useful and look forward to hearing from you soon!
