Ever had to 'apply & have lesson observed' for a job you've been doing for years??

.....I'm faced with having to formally apply for a job the Head, 'head-hunted' me for two years ago (I'm on the second of 2 x 12 month contracts).  When I met with the Head and Dep. H. to discuss the job originally, it was on the premise it would eventually be made permanent!  It hasn't been!  I feel all kinds of 'upset' about this situation and just wondered if any of you had a similar experience I could learn from.  I still think if the Head 'really' wanted me for the job, I'd have it?  We were OFSTED'd in February and guess who got the only 'outstanding' rating; your's truly!  Yet here I am!  Opinions please; help me out here.

I understood that to be the case too; then found out it had changed to 4 years.

This is all coming from the Head via the LEA.  It's to do with reorganisation, some schools closing and permanent staff from these organisations not having jobs anymore.  I do not teach in mainstream; it is a PRU.  Lot's of them in England are being closed/reorganised or turned into Academies.  Wish I had never left mainstream in the first place, very stupid move!  Interviews are next Monday for 'my' job and I was told today I will not be allowed to be interviewed as permanent displaced teachers have 'first' chance of a job.  IF no one is appointed, then the job is advertised on council website and then I can be interviewed along with any one else that is suitably qualified.  You never know, maybe I will end up with the job after all lol!!

BEGINING TO THINK I'M BETTER OFF OUT OF IT!!
